The National ICT Infrastructure Manager is responsible for leading the National Engineering Team to maximize the availability of the group’s National IT Infrastructure.

 

The role involves providing line management to the team and providing strong technical management of the group’s core IT services. The role exists within a matrix management environment, where the National IT Infrastructure team will be assigned to work on and deliver a range of projects with the post holder retaining responsibility for day to day operations of the assigned services and the performance of team members. The post holder will need to set priorities, balancing response to support issues and project programme with need to follow planned monitoring and maintenance, in the context of staff availability and wider ICT service demands.

 

The role exists to support the Director of Technology, in a senior technical capacity, by facilitating the delivery of an effective, fit for purpose IT infrastructure and associated support service. The key attributes of the role are:

 

  • To act in a senior technical capacity providing strategic and operational technical advice, managing change and acting as a technical authority within the Information Technology Directorate.
  • Act in a supervisory and hands-on capacity to ensure the smooth running, maintenance and development of IT systems to support the group’s wider objectives
  • To work with the Technical Project Manager and the Senior Project Manager to ensure that technical projects are successfully delivered
  • To work with the service delivery team to support the effective implementation of system wide changes and the resolution of incidents and problems within the National IT Infrastructure with the minimum disruption to service.
  • To support other technical staff in performing their day to day duties, by providing technical and procedural advice.
  • To ensure the National IT Infrastructure team is operating within the agreed SLA and delivering project work packages to agreed schedules.
  • To manage and escalate service requests to and from the Service Management team to avoid service breaches.
  • To attend project meetings, CAB meetings and build strong relationships with other senior IT managers and group leadership teams where appropriate.
  • To proactively search out potential technical issues, identifying possible risks and suggest solutions.
  • To plan and execute availability and capacity management with the objective of proactively identify problems before an outage occurs.
  • To adopt flexible working practices, which could include travel to other sites and out of hours support.
