Due to continued success and growth, our client, who are the UK’s largest independent holiday letting agencies, is looking to recruit a Senior UX Designer to come on board, sit alongside the existing Senior UX Designers (x2), look after 2 UX Designers each within our UX Team in the Product department.

Amongst their ongoing growth, they are driving a strong amount of investment into the Product Team – responsible for the award-winning web and mobile applications across multiple brands and affiliates, optimising them to ensure a great customer journey.

Working as part of a multi-skilled team made up of designers, developers, product owners, researchers, and analysts; the role of Senior UX Designer will be crucial in the business goals to make a strategic focus on improving the mobile app experience and will be pivotal in delivering these changes to the wider business.

Responsibilities for the Senior UX Designer

You will be joining the team as a senior member and as such will be applying your wealth of knowledge to optimising our mobile app and other web applications, ensuring a smooth booking journey and the best browsing experience possible, to maximise conversion of browsing sessions to bookings/enquiries.

As a Senior UX Designer you will also be applying your skills to create user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing experiences, quickly implementing ideas and suggestions as part of a fast-moving programme of change designed to increase conversion, on both project work and regular incremental app updates.

  • Applying creative, technical and interaction design skills to design usable and aesthetically pleasing websites.
  • Implementing ideas and suggestions quickly and efficiently as part of a fast-moving programme of changes and experiments.
  • Being instrumental in improving the online customer experience in order to improve conversion and serve the business’ commercial objectives.
  • Communicating effectively with product owners to clarify brand requirements as well as technical impediments.
  • Working collaboratively with an Agile team to expedite both projects and regular, incremental updates to web sites.
  • Playing a role in shaping and developing the UX team, sustaining an environment that facilitates high performance and motivates individuals towards the goal of serving customers better.
  • Contributing as a team member and work collaboratively and courteously with other staff members and project stakeholders to meet business objectives.

 

Technical skills and other information

 

  • Proven experience of successfully designing usable and aesthetically pleasing e-commerce sites in a commercial environment.
  • Strong understanding of UX design methods and approaches to design thinking.
  • Ability to demonstrate the commercial benefits to any design changes made.
  • Understanding of Agile methodologies in a fast paced and collaborative team environment.
  • Working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong communicator who has the ability to tell a compelling story, including a solid rational behind all design decisions and thinking.
  • Experience in Sketch, XD and other relevant design tools.
  • Experience managing both people and projects, providing support and development opportunities as needed.
  • App specific design experience across both iOS and Android.
  • Experience working on large e-commerce websites.
  • Experience taking a data-driven approach to decision making.
  • Understanding of A/B testing methodologies.
  • HTML5 and CSS3

 

In addition, the role will mentor, coach and manage other designers within UX, while also taking the lead in building relationships with the rest of the businessa, clarifying the brand and technical requirements in order to deliver the relevant changes.
