PHP Developer

Established over 30 years ago, my client are a specialist insurance provider, with a number of different brands under their belt, meaning that the development work is varied and interesting. They are looking for an experienced PHP Developer to join their team on a permanent basis, to be responsible for the programming of key websites and new features.

This is a permanent role for a PHP level Developer. You must have experience developing content managed websites and web applications using PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Experience in TRIPOS is also an advantage.

You will have a keen interest in developing mobile apps. You must be hard working and creative, a strong team player with a desire to learn new skills. You should enjoy keeping up to date with new technologies and be able to understand their use in the real world for clients that work in different sectors. You must be a good communicator in written and spoken English, comfortable talking to clients when required.

PHP Developer Required Skills:

2-3 years PHP experience

WordPress

XML / SOAP

Strong database skills, preferably MySQL, and an ability to model requirements into an efficient working database

Exposure to Linux systems

Understanding of security and documentation best practice for development projects

Understanding of version control in a multi-project environment

Creative and hardworking with an eye for details

Ability to self-manage and understand objectives from a client’s point of view

Excellent verbal / written communication skills

Desired Skills:

Mobile development experience on any platform

Working knowledge of Laravel or Symphony

PHP 7 or another typed language

Experience with Nginx and/or Redis

Working knowledge of TRIPOS

Working knowledge of a Modern JavaScript framework (Vue, React, Angular)

An understanding of Docker or Linux LXC containers

General DevOps skills (Provisioning, Orchestration, Monitoring)

Understanding of graphics editors such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP or equivalent

Experience of using RESTful web services, XML and API integration

Experience of cross-platform roll outs
