Therefore, practising self-care is extremely important.
What is self-care?
Self-care is the practice of looking after oneself. Often, January 1st sparks new diets, new fitness regimes and new job searches, but all of these can become costly and strengthen the financial burden Christmas has left. Self-care can look like a face mask, an afternoon in front of the fire with a book, or simply completing all of your laundry. Most importantly however, self-care centres on ensuring protection and safety. Financial security is important in January: at the beginning of 2018, 16% of Britons were in debt.
What’s more, Brexit blues will undoubtedly make January 2019 a bit more daunting. Without being a Scrooge – because we want to enjoy Christmas – but it is best to prepare for the month that comes afterwards.
