An extremely prestigious education provider are seeking an IT Support Technician to provide technical support for their users, as well as provide project support when required. For the right candidate, this could turn into a permanent position. This contract is inside IR35.

Due to the nature of this position, you are required to have a current DBS check on the update service

Then this is a fantastic opportunity for you to work as an IT Support Technician. Reporting to the IT Manager, you will be required to provide 1st and some 2nd line support to our client’s users.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Check and maintain the client’s IT resource for safe, effective use by their users.
  • Provide technical support in line with the client’s IT support service definition.
  • Keep appropriate records of expenditure, of hardware and software, and of support requests and actions taken.
  • Support users in the appropriate use of IT.

 

Desktop & Application Support

 

  • Connect, set up and check PCs and peripherals for normal operation.
  • Perform basic PC hardware repairs and upgrades.
  • Maintain common hardware found in school; install applications and trouble‐shoot problems.
  • Basic configuration of routers and switches as instructed by Support Manager.
  • Management of portable technologies – upgrades, development and support. This includes laptops/devices for teachers and other staff and student or departmental laptops/devices provided by the School.

 

Server & Network Support

 

  • Set up hardware and perform checking of networked PCs.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks for user accounts; run basic network monitoring reports and utilities.
  • Maintain inventory of the school’s IT systems.

 

The support and management of the client’s ICT service

 

  • Configuration & Installation
  • Follow an acceptance test procedures for new IT equipment.
  • Update records of installed hardware and software; maintain a software library and store original copies of installed applications.
  • Continuity, Maintenance & Security
  • Follow routine maintenance procedures.
  • Follow school backup, virus protection and security procedures.
  • Support Request Management
  • Accurately record support requests, outcomes and time taken in the support log.
  • Investigate requests for support; record diagnostic information, retrieve details of similar requests and either
  • Resolve or escalate to the appropriate level.
  • Respond to support requests according to school procedures, recording detailed diagnostic information and
  • Using appropriate knowledge bases/logs to inform diagnosis and resolution
  • Internal Support Arrangements & External Contracts
  • Work to the school’s support service definition and note problems in maintaining service levels; track external
  • Hardware and software support providers.
