The IT Technician / 2nd Line / IT Support Engineer:

The IT Services Administrator will be the first point of contact for users requiring IT support. They will support, and where appropriate lead, across IT operations, development and project work. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily administration tasks, including but not limited to the allocation of support calls via the service desk to all staff within the department and processing order requests. The IT Services Administrator will regularly liaise with the IT Development and Project Manager on the work carried out through the service desk, and be responsible for providing reports. The successful candidate will actively monitor the department’s service level agreement (SLA), and proactively escalate calls outside of SLA.

You will be responsible for the following areas;

 

  • Supporting, monitoring, maintaining and managing a wide range of technical systems within the school’s infrastructure.
  • Providing 1st and 2nd line support and assurance to staff and pupils across a large site.
  • Supporting users face to face on a daily basis; we are looking for someone who is confident in working in classrooms.
  • Delivering day-to-day IT support.
  • Planning and implementing system security policies.
  • Daily monitoring of the performance of the networks including anti-virus, internet filtering and safeguarding technologies.

 

The successful candidate will have the following technical expertise and experience;

 

IT Services Duties

 

  • Being the first point of contact for users requiring IT support.
  • Proactively monitoring and allocating all calls logged via the service desk.
  • Regularly reviewing and making appropriate adjustments to calls with the IT Development and Project Manager.
  • Creating reports in line with the department’s obligations and defined processes.
  • Carrying out the administrative procurement and purchasing function for the department in line with the department policy.
  • Creating documentation on the systems and services to ensure it is up to date, accurate and complete, including but not limited to user guides.
  • Assisting with the departments requirements to carry out audits.
  • Providing out of hours support for scheduled and emergency scenarios.

 

IT Project Duties

 

  • Reviewing IT support requests to identify IT development and project requirements.
  • Providing project administration across the Trust’s development work including but not limited to meeting minutes, business cases, liaising with suppliers, procurement, management reporting, budget tracking and coordination of on-site engineers.

 

Development Duties

 

  • Continuously making recommendations on areas of improvement or development in line with the Trust’s strategy.
  • Driving personal continued professional development, in line with the Trust’s CPD model and IT requirements.
  • Supporting the professional development of all staff in the IT services team in line with the Trust’s strategy and requirements.
