The Deputy IT Manager Role:

We are seeking to appoint a Deputy IT Systems Manager to provide whole school IT Support for both students and staff with a focus on ‘hands on’ classroom support.  The Deputy IT Systems Manager will oversee the day-today running of a number of key systems including Active Directory, the officer 365 portal, as well as taking a high-profile role in organising and monitoring the backup and recovery systems.  This role will also deputise for the IT Systems Manager when appropriate.

Duties:

  • Working as part of a flexible team which;
  • Deputise for IT Systems Manager on certain projects and in the event of the IT Systems manager being offsite
  • In-Depth Knowledge of key Microsoft services and networking. e.g. Active Directory, GPO, Microsoft Office (Office 365)
  • Enterprise Server environment (2008 R2/2012/2016)
  • Good knowledge of Veeam backup and replication
  • Knowledge and technical support of HP SAN equipment and the School’s virtualization systems (VMware)
  • Liaising with, and supporting the MIS Manager
  • Good knowledge of Wireless systems (HPE Aruba)
  • Good knowledge of school filtering (Smoothwall)
  • Experience working with mobile technology and in particular, iPads.
  • Helpdesk management and support, in particular, monitoring that jobs on Helpdesk are being picked up by the appropriate technicians and that the records of jobs completed are well kept.

The Deputy IT Manager Candidate:

The successful candidate:

  • Strong Active Directory and Group Policy administration
  • HP SAN, Dell hardware, and software administration and troubleshooting
  • Office 365 Exchange administration
  • Experience with MS SQL/MySQL/ Apache systems
  • Knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, PHP, XML
  • Firewall and VPN configuration and troubleshooting
  • Sophos Anti-Virus solution
  • Disaster recovery software (Veeam)
  • VMware / VSphere maintenance and technical support
  • Upgrade of network hardware and software
  • Microsoft Windows 7 & 10 operating systems
  • PC builds and repairs
  • Desktop image creation and deployment
  • Troubleshooting and repairing issues with desktop software and hardware, projectors, interactive whiteboards and other equipment
