Desktop Support Engineer working for an incredibly prestigious and reputable organisation within the education sector. The organisation is one of the UK’s leading college with an outstanding working environment in which the Desktop Support Engineer can progress.  The Desktop Engineer will be joining the clients Computer Services Team.

 

Desktop / IT Support Duties:

 

  • Provide Network Support
  • Provide support to all sites and Learning Centres managed by the College.
  • Install and manage network deployed software, including programs for Internet security, antivirus, backup and workstation integrity.
  • Support and maintenance of network servers.
  • Support email storage systems.
  • Assist with network research and development.

 

Desktop / IT Support will have the following technical expertise and experience;

 

  • A full valid driving licence and own transport will be required. Casual car users allowance will be payable.
  • At least 3 years’ experience supporting and developing networked computer systems.
  • An excellent working knowledge of network hardware and operating systems (at least two of Windows, Linux, Apple Mac, Novell).
  • Familiarity with networking technologies and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, Switches, Routers, ETC, Windows OS, Windows Server, Remote Desktop Server, Active Directory).
  • Experience managing software packages for backup, anti-virus and security (Norton, MacAfee, Sophos, ESET, Bullguard).
