The world's leading supplier to telecommunication companies around the globe are now looking for a Application Engineer to join the team at their head office in Chessington. Established for over 30 years, they have grown significantly over the last 10 years and are still growing! My client is looking for a motivated Application Engineer to join the team.

Working in the Telecommunications department and reporting the Applications Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for:

Supporting sales of fibre cable/connectivity products into the telecommunications /broadband service provider market. You will be assigned to the Telco team and work closely with the Sales Managers and Applications Engineering Manager to provide technical knowledge, training and support to customers including service provider staff, contractor staff and channel partners throughout the entire business relationship from pre-sales through to in-life support.

Your role will require delivery of the above to customers in a timely, professional and accurate manner. You will constantly focus on understanding customers and their needs. You will be required to work closely with customers on their applications & projects and assist in developing solutions utilising support from global R&D teams. You will ensure that the business is driven to deliver customer needs and always look for ways that we can improve our service, expand sales and increase market share.

You will be required to travel regularly throughout the UK and occasionally in Europe (as customer demand requires).

We are looking for:

  • Good working knowledge of telecom/broadband networks (connectivity & cable). Industry experience desirable.
  • Engineering qualification (BEng or HND?) desirable.
  • Good general purpose IT skill required. Including:  Microsoft Office 365 (particularly Excel & PowerPoint, Visio & Project an advantage), Teams, SharePoint, One Drive, WeTransfer, SAGE X3
  • Strong communications skills – Regular presentations will be required, product demonstrations, verbal and written communications, listening.
  • Ability to work both independently (remote) & in collaboration with team simultaneously.
  • Ability to be able to think creatively & flexibly.
  • Problem solving and Innovation
  • Able to develop a passion for the role/work/industry.
  • Continental language skills are an advantage.
