Location: Edenbridge (Part office, part remote working)

My client is an extremely successful, niche company offering a cloud-based platform for book publishers to record metadata and publishing activity to the supply chain including online sellers, distributors, and retail chains.

  With clients locally, nationally, and globally, they work with both individual and multinational publishers and have a strong worldwide footprint which is continuing to grow.

The Full Stack Developer Role:

We are looking for a JavaScript and PHP developer to join a small development team in a well-established business that provides SaaS solutions to the book publishing industry.

With a web application and associated services that are continuously evolving and adapting to meet customer needs.

  • Implement updates to our web application to deliver improvements to the user experience via the user interface and in-application reporting.
  • Engage with the rest of the team to help develop ideas for future delivery.
  • As a member of a small team, be prepared to help with additional tasks when the need arises, for example implementation of customer templates using HTML/CSS.
  • Assist in maintenance and occasional development of customer ecommerce websites.

Technical Ability required:

  • PHP
  • JavaScript
  • HTML5
  • CSS/Sass
  • MySQL
  • Unit testing - PHPUnit
  • Version control - Git/SVN

Required:

  • Track record of responsive web development
  • Experience working with MVC frameworks such as CakePHP, Laravel or Symfony
  • Experience working with REST APIs
  • Experience developing web application user interfaces
  • A mindset of continuous learning to stay abreast of the latest industry developments

A bonus would be….

  • Practical experience with JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue
  • Bootstrap
  • Jira
  • Build tools such as Webpack
  • Experience working with either Azure or AWS infrastructure

The suitable candidate will not only have excellent technical skills but also an active interest in user interface design. They will be a self-starter who actively engages with the rest of the team to offer sound opinions on existing implementations and creative ideas on how to meet emerging challenges in delivering the best customer experience.
