Established over 30 years ago, my client are a specialist insurance provider, with a number of different brands under their belt, meaning that the development work is varied and interesting. They are looking for an experienced Frontend Developer to join their team on a permanent basis, to be responsible for the development of key websites and new features.

 

The Role

Working in a standalone position, you will be involved throughout project life cycles from conception to launch and then in ongoing support on various projects. Working across web applications using PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript and CSS. Experience in TRIPOS is also an advantage.  You will take ownership of all Frontend responsibilities as this forward thinking organisation have four websites and are looking at adding a mobile application, meaning you have a lot to keep you busy in this role. They have also developed their own internal systems.

You will be a highly motivated individual and take pride in the quality of your work. You will need to be passionate about development and programming and keep up to date with the latest technologies and industry news. You will need to be an articulate, confident and driven self‐starter, able to work alone using your own initiative. You need to be able to work to deadlines and manage your time effectively.

 

Essential skills

 

  • 2-3 years PHP experience
  • WordPress
  • XML / SOAP
  • Strong database skills, preferably MySQL, and an ability to model requirements into an efficient working database
  • Exposure to Linux systems
  • Semantic, well organized HTML5 and CSS3/SASS responsive coding
  • JavaScript / jQuery
  • Experienced in using WordPress
  • Self-driven and highly motivated
  • Able to work using your own initiative

 

Desirable skills

 

  • Mobile development experience on any platform
  • Working knowledge of Laravel or Symphony
  • PHP 7 or another typed language
  • Experience with Nginx and/or Redis
  • Working knowledge of TRIPOS
  • Working knowledge of a Modern JavaScript framework (Vue, React, Angular)
  • An understanding of Docker or Linux LXC containers
  • General DevOps skills (Provisioning, Orchestration, Monitoring)
  • Understanding of graphics editors such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP or equivalent
  • Experience of using RESTful web services, XML and API integration
  • Experience of cross-platform roll outs
