Summary

 

My client’s data services span a range of clients with different UK pension administration systems and their solutions are either delivered within the team, across several areas of the business or in partnership with specialist external suppliers.

As a fast growing team, they want an experienced SQL developer to develop MS-SQL queries and procedures, create custom reports, and modify ERP user forms to enhance organisational productivity.

 

The Role

 

The candidate will play an essential role within Data Solutions developing SQL databases and writing applications to interface with SQL databases. The role will also include

 

  • Designing tables
  • Stored procedures, views and, functions while ensuring their stability, reliability and performance is fit for purpose. Developing processes that support database related actions
  • Mentoring and guiding other team members who are trained to foundation or intermediate level in SQL skills. Supporting the development of a structured maintenance program of SQL and database skills within the business.
  • Contributing to the growth of the business by suggesting improvements and efficiencies to processes. Identifying areas where technology can be used to minimise risk, minimise impact on resources and maximise profitability

 

The candidate will be a strong communicator who can demonstrate organisational skills and core project management behaviour to complement their technology expertise. Experience of developing database programming within defined benefit pensions or other financial services areas would be advantageous.

 

The Requirements

 

The essential skills/experience for this role are:

  • Development of high quality database solutions
  • Review and interpret ongoing business report requirements
  • Research required data
  • Build appropriate and useful reporting deliverables; provide timely scheduled management reporting
  • Analyse existing SQL queries for performance improvements and suggest new queries
  • Develop procedures and scripts for data migration
  • Support test teams by investigating and resolving reported program bugs.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to minimize technical and business risk arising from technology and technical solutions.
  • Excellent understanding of T-SQL programming; Able to develop, implement and optimize stored procedures and functions using T-SQL
  • A proven track record in delivering multiple projects
  • Proven experience as a SQL Developer or similar role with experience of SQL Server Reporting Services and SQL Server Analysis Services
  • A clear, concise and confident communicator
  • A firm commitment to delivering high quality service.
  • Ability to work both independently and on client teams and enjoy a fast-paced environment
  • Prepared to travel within the UK and to Portugal
