The 2nd Line Support Technician Role:

The main purpose of this position is to assist the Company’s clients in resolving their desktop and server technical queries remotely (either via phone or email) whilst adhering to the Company’s ticket based logged system. This position will provide the successful candidate with the exposure to a broad range of IT related technologies and issues with the opportunity to be part of the on‐going development of the Company’s systems, procedures and knowledge base.

 

The 2nd Line Support Technician duties will include:

 

  • Troubleshooting and resolving IT infrastructure queries.
  • Outlining new topology to clients whilst ensuring that the solution fits their need.
  • Maintaining and supporting topology and infrastructure solutions.
  • Liaising with third parties and suppliers.
  • Providing support to clients either in person, over the telephone or via email.
  • Carrying out daily client systems checks (including quality checks).
  • Maintaining and supporting IT security controls and applications.

 

Our Ideal 2nd Line Support Technician Will Have the Following Technical Expertise:

 

  • Must have worked within the SME market and supported IT for SME’s.
  • Previous working knowledge of HP servers, WatchGuard Firewalls and HPE Layer 2 switches and routers.
  • Previous IT security experience.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Cloud Hosting.
  • MCSE, MCP, Sec+ and Ethical Hacking abilities.
  • This role requires a broad knowledge base, so the successful candidate will be required to install, migrate, support and troubleshoot on the following technologies (this list is not exhaustive);
    • Windows Server/s 2008 – 2016,
    • Exchange 2010 – 2016,
    • Desktop: Windows 7 – 10,
    • WatchGuard and ZyXel Firewalls,
    • Office 2010 – 2016, including Office 365,
    • DSL, ADSL and leased lines,
    • VMware ESXi servers (5.5, 6.0 and 6.5), VSphere and virtual environments,
    • DHCP, DNS, VLAN’s, Wi‐Fi setups and Active Directory/Schema and replication troubleshooting,
    • Active Directory maintenance and management,
    • Healthy knowledge of Windows batch file and PowerShell scripting.
