We are looking for a Senior Technical Project Manager to work on our cutting edge digital deliveries, related services & applications.

Our products and solutions encompass the full range of digital media end-to-end, from acquisition, encoding & transcoding, distribution and delivery through to end user applications on web, mobile and OTT platforms.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working on the full software development life cycle of online web based projects. They must be able to demonstrate extensive back-end experience and knowledge, as well a solid understanding of database design & development.

In addition to these technical competencies, the Technical Project Leader will be expected to fulfill typical project management tasks such as internal and external communication, risk & issues management, budget control, production of status reports, tracking of consumption, amongst other responsibilities.

The candidate should have previous experience working on high traffic multi-tiered applications and fully understand the wider implications of security and performance considerations. The position will cover a range of projects and will require participation in client meetings and from time to time require out of office hours support around the sports events. Input into product development, technology strategic direction, and mentoring junior team members would also be expected.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Leading development work on new and existing projects
  • Owning the technical direction and architecture of a solution
  • Leading scoping, estimation, and sprint planning
  • Gathering client requirements to create project plans and requirements documents
  • Management of a large project team, including geographically distributed members
  • Multiple stakeholder management, including senior clients and Board level
  • Identify and evaluate project risks/issues and able to devise & implement effective mitigation strategies
  • Budget and capacity management
  • Recognising and highlighting potential new business opportunities with the client
  • Interact with various multi-disciplinary development teams and stakeholders

 

Person Specification:

  • Communication – ability to communicate with stakeholders and existing or potential clients in a clear and concise manner, especially during challenging periods
  • Technical – knowledgeable and confident in the online technology space, being able to question concepts and decisions made by the technical team.
  • Business analysis – ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into functional specifications
  • Organisational and time management – excellent organisational skills, able to manage own work and schedule not only their time but also others
  • Prioritisation – able to prioritise competing requirements based on technical and stakeholder dependencies
  • Resourceful – ability to find solutions to technical and management issues in a logical and coherent manner
  • Highly motivated & energetic – a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with the ability to motivate and lead others
  • Quality control – strong focus on quality of output to ensure only the best possible outcome is delivered
  • Working under pressure – able to work calmly under pressure of deadlines and delivery, especially in the context of live Sports
  • Attention to detail – keen attention to detail, ensuring the quality of the delivery is up to standard

 

Experience

 

  • Extensive digital project management experience in an agency environment
  • Clear and demonstrable experience of delivering a large online project in an Agile environment
  • First class understanding and proven experience of budget and capacity management
  • An extensive understanding of digital media, including web technologies, online streaming and apps
  • Knowledge of Team Foundation Server (TFS)
  • Knowledge of ASP.NET with C# (including knowledge in the following technologies: MVC, SPA, Web Services & REST API’s, HTML5/CSS3 & JavaScript libraries/frameworks (e.g. AngularJS), XML, XPath, SQL, NoSQL)
  • Experience in TDD, task estimation, and sprint planning
  • Desirable experience with Mobile or OTT development
  • Wireframe and IA design skills
  • Understanding of Microsoft Project and other Microsoft technologies (Word, Excel, Outlook)
