One of our outstanding clients – one of the UK’s largest and most successful retailers based in Croydon are looking to recruit an experienced Application Support Analyst with skills in UNIX Scripting, SQL, PL/SQL and Oracle Forms, to join their team on a permanent basis. The purpose of the role is to support the organisation-wide WINS project.

 

The Application Support Analyst Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for answering and resolving application support calls to an agreed standard. (SLA)
  • Deliver application support with a focus on customer service and adhering to ITIL standards.
  • Playing a key role in small application development projects and providing the handover for development projects.
  • Work with other application support teams and DBA (Database Administrator).
  • Root cause analysis of issues, ensuring scope and implications of any change are fully understood.
  • Undertake small developments when the support workload will allow.
  • Quality checks the coding of other team members.
  • Produce unit test plans and carry out unit testing.
  • Walkthrough system changes with project teams and review support documentation ensuring that it is complete and to an agreed standard.
  • Write user documentation and train non IT colleagues in the use of new software.
  • Implement system changes according to change control procedures.
  • Support software changes that they develop through a warranty period.
  • Work with and supervise 3rd party technical teams.

 

The Application Support Analyst – Key Requirements:

 

  • In-depth experience of working with commercial systems, infrastructure and databases.
  • Experience of using standard project and development lifecycle.
  • At least three years commercial experience in;
  • Oracle – UNIX scripting, SQL and PL/SQL is essential. (Knowledge of Oracle applications such as Retek is desirable).
  • Oracle Forms knowledge.
  • At least three years of experience in IT, preferably in a support role.

 

In addition, any knowledge / experience of working within the retail sector, and knowledge of Data Warehousing would be a bonus.
