We are looking for an IT and Facilities Engineer who has the determination and hunger to succeed. You will be joining a truly fantastic organisation who are Europe’s leading provider of education in the music industry.

Key areas

  • To provide a high level of IT service and support to all students at the college
  • To provide a high level of IT service and support to the college team
  • Maintaining and ensuring the local colleges technical infrastructure is suitably maintained, compliant and consistent with the IT Policy
  • Supporting the IT team on the implementation of technical projects

Essential criteria 

  • Highly organised and focused in delivering a fast and high-quality support service
  • Excellent administrative skills and experience in managing their own work-plan
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in both the English and German language
  • Good customer facing skills
  • Experience supporting Apple OSX
  • Experience supporting DAW’s Ableton, Protools & Logic
  • Experience of supporting Windows 7 and Microsoft office applications
  • Knowledge of Deploystudio & Imaging
  • An understanding of TCP IP protocols
  • Experience with printer management
  • Health and Safety Awareness

Accountabilities 

IT and Communications

  • To provide 1st line support to all staff in the respective college and escalate calls where necessary to Brighton IT support.
  • To ensure that all infrastructure services including network connectivity, phone and wireless service issues along with core software services are escalated to the relevant parties within a suitable time frame.
  • To set-up college staff on the desk-tops, laptops, phones and MACs
  • To actively use and review the IT Helpdesk log to ensure that all college issues are logged and prioritised
  • To manage all college technical assets and to liaise with Finance on asset purchase, location and disposal
  • To liaise with the college business system super-users to deploy systems/software across college users
  • To perform local IT tasks related to project or service affecting work (e.g. network line failover procedures)
  • To maintain local records of user signed IT Policies and Acceptable Usage Policy
  • To where necessary be available to travel between colleges to attend meetings

Security

  • Working with Head of Facilities to train tutors regarding security policy
  • Ensuring that all site users adhere to Security policy, as stated in Student and Tutor manuals
  • Reporting non-compliance to the Head of Facilities
  • As the last person on site each day the post holder will be a key holder and be responsible for the setting and deactivating of the security alarm. It will also be the post holder’s responsibility to ensure that the building is secure prior to the alarm being set at night:
  • Check that all windows are closed
  • Check that all doors are locked
  • Check that all equipment is secure and switched off
  • Check that all lights are off and that the air conditioning system is switched off
  • The post holder will also be responsible for checking that the displayed guitars and basses are alarmed.

Building & Estates General

  • Managing student behaviour both on site and off site and in the immediate environs of the school
  • Logging and reporting building faults. Working with the Head of Facilities to implement a rolling programme of repairs, improvements and refurbishments

Equipment

  • Ensuring that all teaching rooms are laid out correctly and have the requested/necessary equipment for the smooth running of the afternoon/evening’s lessons
  • Reacting to lecturer’s equipment requirements to help ensure excellence of teaching delivery
  • Checking equipment regularly to ensure good, working order
  • Maintaining the equipment asset list for the building & any external venue
  • backline and reporting equipment faults to the Head of Facilities
  • Arranging for the servicing and repairing of equipment with Head of Facilities approval

Cleaning

  • Checking that the college is clean and tidy after the departure of staff and students and monitoring the environment throughout the shift
  • Checking that the contract cleaners work is up to an acceptable standard and reporting any issues to the Head of Facilities
  • Monitoring the cleanliness of the toilets, reporting any plumbing or sanitation problems to the Head of Facilities
  • Emptying the bins and vacuuming the reception, if necessary, on the days when the cleaners are not contracted to come in
  • Ensure that the area directly outside of the entrance to the building generally clean and litter free
