How does working for an established energy services provider for over 40 years sound? My client helps organisations manage their energy better and are well-respected within their division.

Data is key to this company’s role in the energy industry. The Data Engineering Team is looking for an experienced SQL Developer with experience in designing and developing data systems to support the rapid growth in the business. This will involve designing data structures, writing T-SQL stored procedures, and ingesting data from a range of source systems into our SQL Server Data Warehouse for downstream applications and analytics.

Responsibilities: 

  •   Collaborate with data owners of existing source systems to extract operational data into the normalised models in the Data Warehouse.
  •   Perform data analysis on source systems to extract and validate business rules. Use this knowledge to inform the design of Data Warehouse models.
  •   Develop and enhance T-SQL stored procedures in the Data Warehouse to improve data processing and error handling.
  •   Create analytic outputs from Data Warehouse data to support downstream applications and reporting.
  •   Identify ways to improve data reliability and quality, such as automating manual steps to increase the quality and speed of data processing.

Experience: 

  •          Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics or other related disciplines, or professional qualifications and experience in the field of Data Engineering.
  •          Extensive SQL and T-SQL skills.
  •          SQL Developer with excellent understanding of Microsoft SQL Server.
  •          Good knowledge of other relevant technologies e.g. data warehousing, Extract-Transform-Load.
  •          In-depth understanding of data modelling, normalisation, access and storage.
  •          Experience of using code repositories.
  •          Capable of troubleshooting common databases issues and debugging stored procedures.
  •          Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  •          Desirable to have previously worked on Data Warehouse projects.
