An opportunity has become available on a full-time permanent basis within a rapidly expanding Technical team and business, whom are currently looking for a Datacentre Engineer who holds practical experience of utilising their configuration and software skill set within a data centre environment.

Working with the Senior Engineers you will play a pivotal role in the maintenance and upgrade of cutting edge technology, with the view to become the full owner of the compute and storage environment for their private cloud services. This client owns and runs it’s own network across three data centre locations within the M25 area to provide cloud, storage, backup, content filtering and internet access to a large number of education and media organisations.

The role will not be solely datacentre based. With the main office being based in Hemel Hempstead, my client is offering, for the right candidate, hybrid / home working. You must, however, be able to travel within the M25. Driver not essential as all three sites are accessible by public transport.

The Datacentre Engineer will have the following skill set a technical knowledge:

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience of VMWare along with storage management (Datastore, LUNs, iSCSI, SAN, NAS) with major enterprise vendor
  • Experience of utilising your software skill set within a data centre setting
  • Back-up experience – Ideally Acronis (desirable)
  • Networking and firewall experience – Ideally of Juniper
  • Scripting or automation experience would be beneficial
