As part of the newly created IT & Marketing team, our client, a specialist Insurance provider based in Sutton, are currently seeking an experienced Frontend Web Developer who will take hands-on responsibility for developing and maintaining all company websites and insurance quote engines. With a number of brands under their belt, this successful applicant will work closely with the team and in-house programmer to maintain all group websites.  You will implement all changes and will be responsible for bringing all creative ideas to life.  The successful individual will need to be up to date with all the latest web development technologies and have previous experience of working with Wordpress.

Offering a competitive salary of £30,000 - £45,000 DOE plus excellent benefits including 28 days holiday plus your birthday off, stakeholder pension scheme, flexitime system (up to 10 ‘flex’ days per year), Perkbox and Perkbox medical, 7 hour working day, regular performance reviews and lots more!

The Frontend Web Developer…

Working with colleagues and clients to understand website requirements and client needs, you will work with the designer to create website layouts to organise information and allow for intuitive usage, ensuring websites look, feel and function as expected. You will build and maintain websites by writing code, designing pages and widgets and incorporating graphics and video elements.

In addition to this you will be responsible for the following:

  • Design and build all web content “mobile-first”
  • Determine the best plug-ins and applications to provide websites with new features and functionality and instal them accordingly
  • Test websites using a variety of browsers and debug as necessary
  • Maintain websites by checking for errors, broken links and security breaches
  • Write, test and debug code and applications
  • Involvement in the creation of app-based technologies
  • Maintain change control logs and regular website backups
  • Build HTML emails and take responsibility for sending regular campaigns
  • Assess website security and install updated software and security certificates to ensure that websites and client data remain secure
  • Keep abreast of latest algorithm updates in so far as they affect user experience (UX) and website speed
  • Act as a focal point for user experience (UX) and suggest and implement changes to improve the customer journey

Ideal Skills and Experience for the Frontend Web Developer:

  • Solid knowledge and experience in programming applications
  • Good understanding of content management systems
  • User experience (UX)
  • User interface (UI)
  • Visual design
  • Coding languages including HTML and CSS
  • Frontend web programming languages and skills such as JavaScript and Ajax
  • Backend web programming languages such as C# or Java, PHP and Ruby would be an advantage
